Our Expert Opinion on Virgin Money M Plus Saver

Jan WatermannCo-Founder, DepositScout

The M Plus Saver pays 1.75% on balances up to £25,000, dropping to 1.25% above that, and it is open to existing and new customers alike. That 1.75% sits 3.25% behind the easy access market leader at 5.00% and is 1.35% below current CPI inflation of 3.1%, so your money is losing real value. Withdrawals are also restricted to transfers out to a linked M Plus Account, which is a meaningful constraint for an easy access account. Anyone wanting a genuinely competitive rate should look at something like Tandem Bank's Instant Access Saver at 3.40% instead.
