The Short Version
Independent, checked, and not for sale
DepositScout is an independent UK comparison site. We help people compare savings accounts, ISAs, switch offers and related tools. Nothing here is financial advice or a personal recommendation — always check the provider’s own terms before you apply.
Commercial relationships never decide the order of a table, and we say so when a link might earn us a commission. Rates are checked against official sources and refreshed throughout the day.
Our Standards
What we hold ourselves to
- Rate tables are built from each provider’s published information and refreshed throughout the day — not once and left to go stale.
- News and guides are based on official announcements from banks, regulators and government sources. We keep news reporting separate from opinion.
- Articles show when they were published, and we update the date when something material changes.
- Where a named writer is attached to a piece, we show their name. Some market updates are produced by the DepositScout team without a personal byline.
- We are not a bank and we are not authorised by the FCA. Comparison information is general only.
What We Publish
Tables, stories, videos and tools
This policy covers the words and figures we put on the site:
- Comparison tables — easy access, fixed, notice, regular savers, Cash ISAs, Junior ISAs, Lifetime ISAs, Stocks & Shares ISAs, and bank switch offers. “Top Pick” is calculated from the highest rate in the category you are viewing. Switch-offer hero cards (top bonus, fastest to qualify, best for most people) are calculated from published bonus and qualification figures — they are not chosen by hand and cannot be bought. See How We Rank.
- Promo and ongoing rates — where an account has an introductory boost, we show it and let you switch the table to the ongoing rate.
- News, guides and videos — market updates, explainers and short videos. These are information, not a recommendation to open a particular account.
- Calculators and plans — interest, ISA room, tax and savings plans use the same published rate data. The numbers are illustrative. Your own tax position and the provider’s terms can differ.
Independence
Money never writes the table
Some links are affiliate links. If you open an account through one, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing and it does not change the rate. Affiliate links are marked with a small green star. The full picture is on How We Make Money.
Providers cannot pay for a higher place in our tables. Sponsored pieces, if we run any, are labelled “Ad” or “Sponsored” and stay out of the rankings.
Sources
Where the facts come from
Product rates and terms come from each provider’s own published pages. For context we also use:
- Bank of England — base rate and monetary policy
- Financial Conduct Authority — who is authorised, and the rules they follow
- FSCS — deposit protection (currently £120,000 per person, per institution)
- Office for National Statistics — inflation and economic data
- GOV.UK — tax, ISA rules and allowances
AI Tools
Penny and other generated copy
Penny, our savings assistant, answers questions using AI (Anthropic) and our published data. Those answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are not financial advice. Some bank pages also carry a short AI overview — we label those so you can see they were generated.
AI tools are not a substitute for the provider’s own page, or for the tables we check throughout the day.
Corrections
If we get something wrong
We will:
- Correct it as quickly as we can
- Update the “last updated” date on that page
- For a significant change, add a short note saying what was corrected
If you spot an error, email [email protected] or use our contact page. Complaints about our service are covered on Complaints.
