How We Make Money

DepositScout is free to use. Here's exactly how we earn — and why it never changes what you pay or the rate you get.

DepositScout is free to use. We earn money in a few simple ways that do not change what you pay or the interest rate you get.

Affiliate links

Some buttons and links are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to open an account or take up an offer, we may earn a commission from the provider. It costs you nothing. Providers do not pay to appear at the top of our tables and cannot buy better placement.

Look out for the small green star next to a provider's name — that's how you know it's an affiliate link.

Rankings and "Top Pick"

Our tables are built from published data on rates, fees and product features, and are ordered by the numbers alone. Whether we earn from a product plays no part in where it appears — including when two products are tied. "Top Pick" is worked out automatically: it simply marks the highest rate in the category you're looking at, so it can't be assigned by hand or paid for. Nothing in our tables is a recommendation or advice, and you should check a product's own terms before deciding. For the full method, see how we rank savings accounts.

Sponsored content

From time to time we work with brands on clearly labelled sponsorships. Sponsored pieces are marked as "Ad" or "Sponsored". We keep sponsorship separate from our rankings and comparison tables.

Data, accuracy and fees

We try to keep every rate and rule up to date, but providers can change terms without notice. Always check the provider's site before you apply. We never charge you to click a link or compare products.

Where our links take you

Our buttons send you to the provider's own page for the product so you can read their details and terms — we never take you into a sign-up or application form, and we never submit anything on your behalf. Clicks pass through a DepositScout redirect (a depositscout.com/go/… address) so we can count how many people we send to each provider and, where there's an affiliate arrangement, be credited for the referral. Search engines and other automated crawlers are sent straight to the provider's plain page instead, so nothing about our commercial arrangements affects what gets indexed.

Cookies and tracking

If you consent to non-essential cookies, our partners may set a tracking cookie when you click an affiliate link so the provider knows where the visit came from. You can use our site without these cookies by rejecting them in the banner.

Independence and conflicts

We list providers whether we have a commercial relationship with them or not. Team members do not receive incentives tied to a specific brand. If there is a potential conflict, we will say so.
