The Santander Edge Saver's 6.00% rate looks attractive, but it is built from a 3.5% base rate plus a 2.5% bonus that only lasts for the first 12 months, after which you drop back to that lower base rate, so you need to be ready to move your money when the bonus expires. The account is capped at £4,000 in total, which limits how useful it is for anyone with more to save, making it best suited to someone who wants a short-term home for a modest pot and is disciplined enough to switch afterwards. If you want something simpler without a bonus cliff, the Cahoot Sunny Day Saver is worth a look at 5.00%.
