On Mastercard abroad it costs practically nothing off the real exchange rate, which matches the best cards we have measured. The genuine catch is the fee: currently £10 a month, rising to £12 from October 2026, when the £1 app-login reward also disappears. I would weigh those insurance benefits carefully against that rising cost before committing.
