Our Expert Opinion on NatWest Defined Access Saver

Jan WatermannCo-Founder, DepositScout

The NatWest Defined Access Saver pays 2.50%, which is below the easy access market leader at 5.00% by 2.50%, and sits below the market average, so this is not a rate I would recommend on its merits alone. It also falls 0.60% short of CPI inflation at 3.10%, meaning your money loses real value. The real catch is the withdrawal limit: make four or more withdrawals in a calendar year and the rate drops sharply to 1.04% until 1 January resets the count. If you want easy access, Tandem Bank's Instant Access Saver at 3.40% is worth a look instead.
