Our Expert Opinion on Nationwide FlexOne Saver

Jan WatermannCo-Founder, DepositScout

The FlexOne Saver is designed for children and pays 5.00%, which sits 1.90% above CPI inflation of 3.1% as of Aug 2026, so the money is at least growing in real terms. The account requires just £1 to open and accepts instant access, which is useful for younger savers dipping in and out. The main catch is the £5,000 balance cap, so once a child's savings reach that ceiling there is nowhere left to go within this account. If you need a fixed-rate alternative, State Bank of India's Jumbo Junior Fixed Deposit Account offers 4.65%.
