Our Expert Opinion on MBNA Fixed Saver

Jan WatermannCo-Founder, DepositScout

MBNA's Fixed Saver pays 5.01% for one year on balances from £1,000 up to £750,000, which puts it near the market average for fixed-rate accounts and 0.34% behind the category leader at 5.35%. That said, 5.01% still beats August 2026 CPI by 1.91 percentage points, so you are at least preserving real value. The main catch is that your money is completely locked until maturity, with no access at all. If you want a close alternative, GB Bank's one-year bond currently edges it at 5.05%.
