Our Expert Opinion on Santander 2 Year Fixed Term Saver

Jonny PeaseCo-Founder, DepositScout

Santander's 2 Year Fixed Term Saver pays 4.70% AER, which is below the market average for fixed-rate accounts and sits 0.65% behind the current leader at 5.35%, so I would not call this a standout rate. It does beat inflation by 1.60% against CPI of 3.1% (Aug 2026), which at least preserves real value. The real catch is that you have no access until maturity, and you must also decide upfront whether to take interest monthly or annually, as that choice cannot be changed. If you want a two-year fix at a better rate, Kent Reliance's 2 Year Fixed Rate Bond is currently paying 4.91%.
