How you earn

Lifestyle perks worth over £300 a year plus fee-free card spending abroad — no travel or phone insurance.

  • No 3-month lock-in (unlike Max). Partner perks can change. Railcard eligibility depends on age and where you live. Billsback is a draw, not a guaranteed rebate (up to £150 if selected).
  • UK residents 18+. No upper age cap (Max is 18–69). Distinct from the free Monzo debit card and from Monzo Max.
  • £9/month for new customers from 13 August 2026 (was £7 — older pages are stale). No travel, phone or breakdown insurance — upgrade to Max for those. Not a cashback account.

Using it abroad

No cashback or points — Monzo's lifestyle plan: weekly Greggs treat, annual Railcard, monthly Vue ticket, YouTube Premium Lite and Uber One, plus boosted savings rates and a higher fee-free ATM limit abroad. No travel, phone or breakdown insurance — that sits on Max.

  • Outside the EEA the first £600 in a rolling 30 days is free, then 3%. ATM operators may still charge. Receiving euros or other foreign-currency inbound payments has a 1% conversion fee (capped £1,000).
  • Converts at the Mastercard exchange rate.

What else you get

Weekly Greggs treat.

  • Monthly Vue cinema ticket plus 10% off food and soft drinks.
  • YouTube Premium Lite.
  • Instant Access savings 3.25% AER and Select Access 3.65% AER (variable, paid monthly).
  • Saving Challenge at 5.00% AER.
  • Extra-plan tools (connected accounts, virtual cards, advanced roundups).
  • Holographic Blue Coral card.

Our Expert Opinion on Monzo Perks Debit Card

The Monzo Perks Debit Card is really a lifestyle bundle rather than a rewards card - it pays no cashback or points, so the £9 a month buys you perks like a weekly Greggs item, an annual Railcard, a monthly Vue ticket, and Uber One. I think that bundle suits frequent commuters and cinema-goers well. Abroad, it uses the Mastercard rate with practically nothing off the real exchange rate, which matches the best cards we have measured. The catch is no travel or phone insurance - you need Monzo Max for that.
