Our Expert Opinion on Monzo Debit Card

The Monzo Debit Card is free to hold and earns no rewards on spending, so it is really about the overseas proposition. On that front it does well: we measured it at practically nothing off the real exchange rate via Mastercard, which matches the best cards we have seen. I like that ATM withdrawals are fee-free up to £400 in a rolling 30 days in the UK and EEA, though outside the EEA the free allowance drops to £200 before a 3% charge kicks in, which is the genuine catch for travellers heading further afield.
