How you earn

Worldwide travel, phone and UK/Europe breakdown cover plus lifestyle perks, with fee-free card spending abroad.

  • £19/month for new customers from 13 August 2026 (was £17 — older pages are stale). 3-month lock-in. Apply by 69. No cashback. Family cover is extra.

Using it abroad

No cashback or points — Monzo's top packaged plan: worldwide travel insurance (Zurich / Qover), worldwide phone insurance, UK & Europe breakdown cover, plus lifestyle perks (weekly Greggs, annual Railcard, monthly Vue ticket, YouTube Premium Lite, Uber One) and a higher fee-free ATM limit abroad.

  • Outside the EEA the first £600 in a rolling 30 days is free, then 3%. ATM operators may still charge. Receiving euros or other foreign-currency inbound payments has a 1% conversion fee (capped £1,000).
  • Converts at the Mastercard exchange rate.

Who can apply

Need a Monzo current account first. No minimum pay-in.

  • UK residents aged 18–69. 3-month minimum. Add family to phone, travel and breakdown cover for £23/month total. Distinct from the free Monzo debit card already on the travel page.

What else you get

3-month minimum term. Travel cover includes cancellation up to £5,000, medical up to £10m, valuables up to £750, winter sports and car-hire excess up to £3,000, with a £50 excess. LoungeKey visits are discounted (£24), not free. Family cover is an extra £4/month (£23 total) on the current fee sheet.

  • Worldwide multi-trip travel insurance including winter sports.
  • Worldwide phone insurance.
  • Weekly Greggs treat.
  • Monthly Vue cinema ticket plus 10% off food and soft drinks.
  • YouTube Premium Lite.
  • Boosted Instant Access and Select Access savings rates.
  • First two UK replacement cards free each year.

Our Expert Opinion on Monzo Max Debit Card

The Monzo Max is a packaged debit account rather than a rewards card, so if you want cashback this is not it. What it does well is travel spending: Mastercard rates with practically nothing off the real exchange rate, and fee-free ATM withdrawals up to £600 every 30 days outside the EEA. The bundle of perks is genuinely broad, covering worldwide travel and phone insurance, breakdown cover, a Railcard, weekly Greggs and more. I would just note the fee has risen to £19 per month, with a three-month minimum term before you can leave.
