Our Expert Opinion on Coventry Building Society First Home Saver

Jonny PeaseCo-Founder, DepositScout

The Coventry First Home Saver pays 4.25% over a 36-month term and is clearly aimed at first-time buyers who plan to take their mortgage with Coventry, since that is the only route to the £500 celebratory bonus. The rate sits 3.75% below the regular saver market leader at 8.00% and is below the market average, so I would not choose it purely for the interest rate. It does beat August 2026 CPI of 3.1% by 1.15%, and the 60-day notice withdrawal is a reasonable catch to plan around, but if the mortgage tie-in does not suit you, Lloyds Bank Monthly Saver offers 5.00%.
