This guide is for savers who want a Cash ISA (tax-free interest) — not stocks & shares. We’ve highlighted platforms that make cash saving easy, let you transfer in quickly, and offer competitive easy-access or fixed rates without investment risk.
Quick context: since April 2024 you can pay into multiple ISAs of the same type in one tax year (within the £20,000 total allowance). That’s handy if you open a Cash ISA now and spot a better one later. (Allowance applies across all ISAs combined.)
HL’s Cash ISA sits inside Active Savings, so you can open once, then pick/switch between partner-bank rates in a few taps. Right now HL is advertising a market-leading 4.55% AER (variable) easy-access rate, powered by Shawbrook — with ISA transfers accepted. That’s the headline offer to beat today for “no-fuss” easy access.
Why savers like it
One ISA wrapper, multiple banks/rates; easy to move if the table shifts.
Clear FSCS set-up (deposits covered per underlying bank licence).
Moneybox offers easy-access and fixed Cash ISAs in a very clean app. Recent new-customer easy-access rates have included bonus periods (e.g., 0.77% on top of the base), so it’s competitive but you should diary the bonus end date. Good transfer-in flow and nice automations (round-ups, payday boosts).
Good if: you want an app that does the admin well and don’t mind a bonus to manage.
Chip’s Cash ISA typically tracks near Bank Rate with promotional boosts layered on top for new customers. It’s app-only, quick to open, and often punches above high-street ISA rates — just watch the promo timelines/conditions.
Good if: you want a “set-and-nudge” app and don’t need a marketplace.
Flagstone (a big cash “platform” for savings) has confirmed plans to launch up to ten Cash ISAs in Jan 2026, managed within its switching hub. If you like the multi-bank model and rate-shopping in one place, keep an eye on this.
Easy access vs fixed: Easy access = flexibility (variable rate). Fixed = certainty (penalties if you break). HL currently leads on easy access; Moneybox/Chip run strong app options with promos.
Transfers: Always use the ISA transfer process (don’t withdraw to your bank) to keep the tax wrapper intact. The platforms above accept transfers — check each product’s “transfer-in” rules first.
Multiple ISAs (same year): Post-April-2024 rules let you pay into more than one Cash ISA in the same tax year, as long as you stay within £20,000 total. That makes “open now, switch later” far easier.
FSCS protection: From 1 Dec 2025, deposit protection rises to £120,000 per person, per authorised firm (up from £85,000). On marketplaces (HL/Flagstone), coverage is tied to the underlying bank’s licence. Spread large balances accordingly.
“I want the top easy-access ISA without faff.” → HL Cash ISA on Active Savings (market-leading 4.55% AER right now).
“I live on my phone — show me a slick app.” → Moneybox (easy transfers, automations; mind the bonus timetable).
“Give me a tracker-style ISA I can boost.” → Chip (promos + simple app; check current boost).
“I want a marketplace with lots of ISA options.” → Flagstone (coming Jan 2026) — worth shortlisting if you can wait.
