The short version

  • You can cancel any purchase of DS Credits within 14days for a refund. If you've used some of the credits from that purchase, we deduct those at the rate you paid and refund the rest.
  • Cancel from the Billing page or by emailing [email protected]. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within 14 days.
  • You're only ever charged credits for a successful response. Errors, rate limits and unchanged results are free.
  • Credits never expire. If you close your account, we refund any unused purchased credits.

1. What you're buying

DS Credits are a prepaid balance for the DepositScout Data API. £1 buys 10DS Credits at today's rate. The rate you pay is locked to that purchase and shown on your receipt, so later price changes never affect credits you already hold. Prices are in GBP and include any VAT we are required to charge. Credits never expire, have no cash value outside the API, and can't be transferred to another account.

We sometimes add credits to an account free of charge — for example a welcome allowance or as compensation for a fault. These are grants. Grants are always used before purchased credits, are not refundable, and are forfeited if you close your account.

2. Consent at checkout

Before paying you tick a box asking for your credits to be available immediately and confirming you understand how cancellation works. We include the exact wording you agreed to, with the date and time, in your confirmation email and keep it with your purchase record. We can't sell credits without it.

3. Cancelling a purchase

You can cancel a purchase within 14days of the day after you paid, as long as it hasn't already been refunded.

Your refund is the amount you paid, less any credits from that purchase that have already been charged, valued at the rate you bought them at. If none have been used, you get the full amount back. Purchases are drawn down oldest first, after any grants, so cancelling one purchase never touches credits from another.

To cancel, use "Cancel and refund" on the Billing page, which shows the deadline and the refund amount for each eligible purchase, or email [email protected]with the purchase reference. Refunds go to the original payment method within 14 days of your cancellation. Refunds are made in GBP; if your card is in another currency, your bank's exchange rate will apply.

4. After 14 days

After 14 days a purchase is final. If something has gone wrong — a duplicate payment, a fault on our side that cost you credits — email [email protected]with the request id and we'll reply within 5 working days and put it right, by returning credits or by refund. This doesn't limit your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the service we supply is faulty.

5. Closing your account

When you delete your developer account we refund any unused purchased credits at the rate you bought them at, to the card you paid with, within 14 days. Grants are forfeited. You confirm this before the account is closed. We keep your purchase records and receipts for 6 years, as required for tax and accounting purposes — see our privacy policy.

6. Your statutory rights and who this applies to

This policy applies to purchases made through the DepositScout developer portal, whether you buy as a consumer or as a business. Nothing in it reduces your rights under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 where they apply. Where this policy gives you more than the law requires, the policy applies.
