# Display guidelines and attribution kit

How to show DepositScout data to your users: the wording the Data Licence asks for, and the attribution text and badge.

---

The [Data Licence](https://depositscout.com/developers/licence) incorporates this page. Section 5.3 of the licence says what you must show wherever consumers see the Data, and section 6 covers attribution. Below is wording that meets both. You can change the words to suit your product, as long as the meaning stays the same.

## Display guidelines

### 1. Show when each rate was last checked

Every record carries the time we last checked it. Show it, or an equivalent "last checked" statement, next to the rate. The field depends on the endpoint:

| Data | Last-checked field |
| --- | --- |
| Savings products and switching offers | `updatedAt` |
| Rate history (past rates; label them with the date) | `changedAt` |
| Reward, travel and credit cards | `lastVerified` |
| Market overview | `lastUpdated` |

Each endpoint's page in the [docs](https://depositscout.com/developers/docs) shows its fields. `meta.generatedAt` is when we built the response, not when the data was checked, so don't show it as the last-checked time.

> Rate last checked 29 September 2026, 10:15.

If you cache responses, show the original time, not the time you cached them. Data kept for longer than 24 hours must not be shown as current (Data Licence 3.4).

### 2. Say that rates and terms can change

> Rates and terms can change at any time. Confirm them with the provider before you apply.

### 3. Say that it isn't financial advice

> This is information to help you compare, not financial advice.

### 4. Don't call a product "best" for someone

Unless you're authorised to give advice, describe the data rather than recommending products to a particular person.

- Fine: "Highest rate in this list", "Sorted by rate, highest first", "Top easy-access rate we found on 29 September 2026".
- Avoid: "The best account for you", "We recommend", "The right choice for your savings".

### 5. Keep the material terms with the rate

Show a rate with the conditions that change what someone actually gets: notice periods and fixed terms, minimum or maximum balances, withdrawal limits, bonuses and when they end, new-customer-only offers and eligibility. Don't drop a condition to make a rate look better (Data Licence 4.6).

### 6. Credit cards and other credit

Credit Data is for showing information only. Linking to an application, or earning a fee for a referral, needs FCA authorisation for credit broking (or appointed-representative status or an exemption), and you must confirm your status to us in writing first (Data Licence 5.2). Where you show a credit card, keep the representative APR and the other figures as we supply them.

### 7. AI answers, voice and alerts

The same rules apply when the Data appears in an AI answer, a voice assistant, an email alert or SMS: give the last-checked time, say that rates can change and that it isn't advice, and include the attribution.

### All together

One short notice under a table or list of rates covers everything above:

```html
<p class="rates-notice">
  Rates last checked 29 September 2026, 10:15. Rates and terms can change,
  so confirm them with the provider before you apply. This is information,
  not financial advice. Rates powered by <a href="https://depositscout.com">DepositScout</a>.
</p>
```

## Attribution kit

Wherever the Data is shown to users, include "Rates powered by DepositScout" with a link to depositscout.com, or one of the badges below. The text is also in `meta.attribution` of every response.

### Text

```html
<p class="rates-attribution">
  Rates powered by <a href="https://depositscout.com">DepositScout</a>
</p>
```

### Badge

Use the badge as it is. Link it to depositscout.com, and use the version that suits your background.

Dark backgrounds [Download SVG](https://depositscout.com/developers/attribution/rates-powered-by-depositscout-dark.svg)

       width="252" height="36" alt="Rates powered by DepositScout">
</a>
```
### Where it goes
- With the Data or immediately next to it: under the table, beside the rate card, at the end of the answer.
- Legible: text at least the size of your body copy's small print (12px or more), or the badge at its full size.
- Not hidden in a site footer, a tooltip, or a collapsed or "more info" element.
- Where a link isn't possible (voice, SMS, email alerts, print), say "Rates powered by DepositScout" in words at least once wherever the Data appears.
- Not needed where the Data is only used internally by your own staff and never shown to anyone else.
### Using our name
You may use the name and badge only for this attribution (Data Licence 6.4). Please don't:
- recolour, stretch, crop or redraw the badge, or put it on a busy background where it can't be read;
- use "DepositScout" in your product name, domain, advertising or app-store listing; or
- suggest that DepositScout endorses, sponsors or has checked your product, unless we have agreed it in writing.
